DO THIS NOW
Seven actions for coordinators
Replace older competition-rule references with the WPA edition dated 1 September 2026.
Load the Tashkent 2027 event programme, eligible classes and MES into the athlete pathway tracker.
Audit every prospective athlete’s WPA licence, SDMS documentation, sport class and status.
Select a primary and backup 2027 international-classification opportunity for each athlete needing evaluation.
Track classification readiness, MES, recognized results, ranking position and quota allocation separately.
Mark LA28 MES as pending; do not substitute Paris 2024 standards.
Launch a T71/T72 Frame Running identification, equipment and coaching pathway.

164LA28 events included
World Para Athletics retained the New Delhi 2025 programme and expanded it by 16 events. Five are newly added and 11 result from separating previously combined events. The programme contains 111 men’s, 90 women’s and one mixed event.
Why it matters
Tashkent is the central championship and classification planning point before LA28. Athletes should be matched to events offering both a 2027 World Championships opportunity and direct LA28 programme relevance.
Coordinator checklist
Record the official MES for every target athlete and event.
Confirm that the athlete’s exact sport class is eligible for the medal event; do not rely on the event name alone.
Plan classification travel for arrival before 15 June and availability throughout all classification days.
Prepare for a waiting-list outcome; entry with New or Review status does not guarantee an appointment.
The programme contains 84 men’s events, 79 women’s events and the mixed Universal 4×100m Relay. WPA has identified competitions feeding the LA28 Qualification Rankings. LA28 Minimum Entry Standards remain pending.
MES is not a quota place.Track an athlete’s standard, ranking performance and eventual NPC allocation separately. A national result is not automatically an LA28-ranking performance.
Recognized pathway currently identified
Aichi-Nagoya 2026 begins the listed ranking pathway. The 2027 pathway includes the Grand Prix circuit, Tashkent World Championships, Lima Parapan American Games, Olomouc Women’s Grand Prix and the Marathon World Championships. WPA will announce the 2028 competitions later and may add sanctioned competitions.
Early classification reduces the risk of a last-minute ineligibility decision, class change, observation requirement or lack of panel capacity at Tashkent.

Minimum preconditions
Current WPA licence.
Entry in the recognized competition hosting classification.
Required Medical Diagnostics Form and supporting medical evidence uploaded in SDMS.
Availability for all classification days if placed on the waiting list.
Recommended for Nigerian planning: use Dubai or New Delhi as early primary targets, with Tunis or Rabat as geographically practical contingencies. Match impairment type to the panels actually confirmed for each event before booking.
Use for current WPA-sanctioned competition operations and technical preparation.
Classification rulesFebruary 2023 edition
Still listed by WPA as the controlling sport-specific classification rules. No replacement classification rulebook was identified in this review.
Do not present the September general-rule edition as a new classification system. Event manuals, officials’ briefings, forms and software validations should cite the correct controlling document for the issue involved.
T71/T72Frame Running reaches the Paralympic programme
Frame Running should now be treated as a national performance pathway, not solely a development activity. Federations need frames, trained coaches, accessible trials, appropriate surfaces, classification preparation and recognized competition opportunities.
