Replace locally saved Para cycling Part XVI copies with the UCI edition dated 1 October 2026.
Complete a documented rule-by-rule impact review before the next Para cycling entry, equipment check or officials’ briefing.
Calendar the UCI amendment package taking effect on 1 January 2027 and schedule a December implementation check.
Remove Al Ain December 2026 from shooting qualification and travel plans; do not book against an unconfirmed 2027 date.
Protect Aichi-Nagoya shooting entries and MQS verification because it is now the remaining 2026 LA28 direct-slot opportunity identified by WSPS.

UCI Para cycling Part XVI revised
1 Oct 2026Current edition effective
1 Jan 2027Next amendments effective
The UCI regulations directory now lists Part XVI: Para Cycling in a version dated 1 October 2026. It also publishes separate amendment documents dated 29 September 2026 for changes effective on 1 October 2026 and 1 January 2027.
Why it matters
The current edition is now the controlling operational reference. Older manuals, event instructions, software validations and officials’ checklists may contain superseded provisions. Because a second effective date is already fixed, organizations need two controlled implementation checkpoints rather than a single annual update.
Do not infer a rule change from a summary.Technical staff should compare the official amendment documents against their affected discipline, event and equipment procedures before changing an athlete’s preparation or eligibility record.
Operational checklist
Record rulebook version and effective date in the document register.
Archive—but stop distributing—pre-1 October copies.
Assign the redline review to a qualified Para cycling technical official.
Document affected forms, technical checks, timing/results logic and team instructions.

World Shooting Para Sport amended its LA28 pathway notice to confirm that the Al Ain World Cup, originally scheduled for December 2026, has been postponed to 2027. No replacement dates were confirmed in the notice.
Why it matters
Al Ain can no longer be used as a 2026 classification, MQS, direct-quota or travel-planning milestone. Aichi-Nagoya remains the second 2026 qualification opportunity identified by WSPS and offers 10 direct slots: four male, three female and three gender-free.
Operational checklist
Cancel or hold December travel, accommodation and funding commitments under their refund rules.
Remove the event from athlete qualification forecasts and board reports.
Verify MQS and “not otherwise qualified” status before Aichi-Nagoya slot calculations.
Wait for an official 2027 Al Ain date before committing funds or promising an athlete a qualification opportunity.

The IPC’s principal sport medicine and science forum—formerly known as VISTA—will take place in Tokyo. Classification is explicitly included among its core knowledge-exchange areas, alongside athlete health and performance.
Operational significance
This is not a rule change or mandatory deadline. It is a confirmed planning date for classification leads, classifiers, medical staff and researchers who may need travel budgets, abstract preparation or professional-development approval.
